Organisations across WA will receive almost $300,000 in funding for demonstrating the best ways to mentor young people.

Youth Minister Robyn McSweeney said the organisations met or exceeded national benchmarks in delivering quality youth mentoring projects.

"Each of the successful applicants needed to demonstrate a strong understanding of providing youth mentoring and being able to promote the application of Australian youth mentoring national benchmarks, " she said.

The funding is part of the Youth Mentoring and Demonstration Projects Grant Ms McSweeney said the Government has allocated $1.15m over the next four years in hope of having 12 mentoring projects running across the State.

Organisations to receive funding include YMCA Big Brothers Big Sisters, Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre, Jobs Southwest and the School Volunteer project.
