Recreation
The YMCA is the largest and most awarded provider of community recreation in Australia. It is also the country’s largest provider of health and fitness services. Through our network of 364 YMCAs, over 7 million Australians every year benefit from YMCA health & fitness programs.
It’s the Y’s mission to deliver the highest quality recreational and leisure programs and services to communities throughout Western Australia, enhancing the lives of participants and their communities, and providing opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit.
We believe:
- The Centre is a community resource and should be accessible to all members of the community.
- The Centre should provide a range of sporting and recreation activities relevant to the needs of the community.
- The Centre should seek to promote positive attitudes towards personal, group and community development through the promotion of healthy approaches to competition and achievement.
- The Centre should be managed, in conjunction with the community, in a manner consistent with its philosophies and as a cost effectively as possible.
 Our recreation department currently operates 9 managed centres which attracted over 1.5 million visits last year. We also run a range of school based programs including three YMCA Active, YMCA Strong Kids, My Time and YMCA Corporate Wellness.
